Koh Phi Phi

Koh Phi Phi

Koh Phi Phi is located in the Andaman Sea off the coast of Thailand, south of Phuket. It is renowned for incredible natural beauty, world-class diving, and solid reputation for great vacations. Unparalleled beauty is the island’s best trait; long stretches of white-sand beaches, limestone bluffs, clear, turquoise water, and miles of jungle forest create a consummate tropical destination.

The main island, Phi Phi Don, is comprised of two parts: one long and narrow on the west and one short and narrow on the east joined by a natural bridge of land. Set nearby to the southeast is uninhabited Koh Phi Phi Leh, home to stunning bays and beaches like Maya Bay (the set of the film “The Beach”) and Monkey Bay and the site of dozens of diving and snorkeling tours.
Ton Sai
Ton Sai Village lies at the central point where the two land masses connect at the isthmus featuring two bays that are at once arresting in all their glory, a magnificent site almost incomparable to any other islands or beaches in Thailand. Discover Phi Phi Island by rock climbing, scuba diving, kayaking, and snorkeling which are the most popular activities.
Ton Sai is the hub of activity on Koh Phi Phi. It is the epicenter of ferry travel, the main arrival point for most visitors.  The beautiful bay is surrounded by limestone cliffs and spans just over mile and features clusters of yachts and smaller boats hosting tours and dive trips. Ton Sai’s east side leads the way to small beaches fringed by coral beds and reefs and plenty of beachfront guesthouses and hotels, none very expensive. Ton Sai offers the most abundant options in shopping, dining, and nightlife.
Laem Tong Beach
At the north end of the island is one of the quieter Koh Phi Phi Island beaches, Laem Tong Beach. There are four main resorts and a smattering of hotels and guesthouses. The beach’s location offers cool northeastern winds in peak season, the hottest time of year. The small gypsy village set between the resorts offers a welcome cultural touch, some inexpensive boat rides, and good conversation with locals.
Long Beach
Long Beach is one of the best diving spots on Koh Phi Phi, well known for an ample stock of coral beds filled with colorful marine life, not to mention powder-fine white sand and perfect views. Situated near Ton Sai, Long Beach is the place of longer-term travelers, and not many day-trippers visit here. A half-dozen resorts offer accommodation and good restaurants. The atmosphere is quiet, especially at night but the location is close enough for a quick jaunt into Ton Sai for a night on the town.
Loh Dalum Bay
Loh Dalum is on the opposite side of Ton Sai just a few minutes across the isthmus. It is definitely worthy of description as paradise and almost totally enclosed by surrounding cliffs offering the ultimate feel of seclusion. Loh Dalum is Ton Sai’s laid-back counterpart, offering clusters of chilled out beach restaurants and bars. There are several hotels and resorts that offer swimming pools and plenty more facilities and services. Beach chairs are readily available for rent and though there is one shop on the beach, it’s best to pick up sundries and snacks in Ton Sai. This is one of the best Koh Phi Phi Island beaches for serious R&R.
