The best beaches in Vietnam have attracted visitors with their irresistible qualities and scenic coastal retreats. For years, the natural wonders of Halong Bay and the rich history of Ho Chi Minh City have been some of the biggest attractions in the country. Today, the best Vietnamese beaches hardly go unnoticed.
A large majority of Vietnam’s sandy shores lie within the central and south-central parts of the county, but it is possible to find great beaches in the north and south. The best Vietnamese beaches exhibit abundant diversity, from five-star facilities to amazing views, great swimming, and opportunity for both action and inertia.
Nha Trang
Danang’s splendid coastline reaches to popular Nha Trang, one of the best beaches in Vietnam. The rising number of local tours has created demand for growth in facilities including hotels, guesthouses, restaurants, and shops. Though crowded, the opportunity to get out and explore nearby islands within Nha Trang Bay via swimming and snorkeling is unbeatable, as is the local seafood harvest.
China Beach
Locally called My Khe Beach, China Beach is a popular local hangout and a great place to surf come November. It faces Monkey Bay just east of pretty Danang Bay. China Beach is renowned for five-star resorts like Lang Co, which offer tours, seaside dining, and watersports. China Beach is peaceful, lively stretch of golden sand backed by lush mountains best to visit between April and August.
Mui Ne Beach
From Phan Thiet, Mui Ne Beach is easily reached. This southern Vietnam charmer affords attractive beach traits from scenic landscapes to sublime weather to white sandy beaches unfolding for miles. Mui Ne is also a leader on the kite and windsurfing scene, noted as a world-class spot for these particular sports. The short, easy route from Ho Chi Minh City means busy beach weekends yet weekdays bring a wonderfully crowd-free coast. Don’t miss local points of interest including the isolated dunes, amazing seafood, and Nick Faldo golf course.
Long Beach on Phu Quoc Island
West of Ho Chi Minh City just off the coast in the Gulf of Thailand is Long Beach (Truong Beach) on Phu Quoc, an amazing island with great accommodations and a beach back by a lush jungle landscape. Superb white sand, incredible sunsets, and plenty of options in amenities and services await on Long Beach, on the island’s west side. The five miles of beach is diverse. You may find yourself in a completely secluded area at one point and walk on into a bustling, hotel-laden area filled with opportunity.
Con Son Island
Around the bend from Phu Quoc into the South China Sea are the beautiful Con Dao Islands, with many great (mostly unnamed) beaches to choose from. The remote location and requirement for pre-booked ferry rides from Vung Tau creates a scenario in which Con Dao is wonderfully free of people. White-sand beaches give way to amazing coral reefs ideal for snorkeling and diving. Eighty percent of the island is a designated national park, fostering a backdrop filled with fascinating wildlife. Rainforest tours and turtle tours are of particular interest and available from Con Son village. It’s best to visit between November and February, the driest months.
